Woman charged in dagger attack

A woman used a dagger with a 6-inch blade to severely wound a man’s arm during a domestic dispute this week in Fort Wayne, court papers said.

Sarah Steinman, 22, was preliminarily charged with five felonies: aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness and two counts of domestic battery.

According to court papers, Steinman and the man were arguing Wednesday when she cut him with the dagger and severed tendons in his forearm. The victim was taken to St. Joseph Hospital.

A doctor told police the wound would require surgery and would leave the victim without use of his arm for an extended time, court papers said.

Steinman told police she cut the man after he shoved and threatened her, court papers stated. She was being held without bail Friday at the Allen County Jail on a probation violation.
