8 apply for Allen judicial vacancy

Eight lawyers, including two magistrates, have applied for the upcoming judicial vacancy in the Allen Superior Court's civil division, the Indiana Supreme Court announced today.

The applicants will be interviewed April 25 and 26 in the Council Committee Room at Citizens Square, the Supreme Court said in a statement.

The interviews are open to the public, although questions will be limited to members of the seven-member Judicial Nominating Commission, the statement said.

The applicants are:

  • Magistrate Craig Bobay;
  • John Cowan;
  • Magistrate Jennifer DeGroote;
  • Laurie Gray;
  • Carrie Hawk Gutman;
  • Michael McAlexander;
  • Michael Michmerhuizen;
  • Patrick Proctor
They seek to replace Judge Daniel Heath, who is transferring to the court's family relations division upon the retirement of Judge Stephen Sims.
