Jury sent back to deliberate in therapist killing
The Associated Press
Jurors sent a note to the judge on Thursday saying they were unable to reach a verdict in the murder trial of David Tarloff. But the judge told them to return on Friday for further deliberations.
Tarloff doesn't dispute that he killed Kathryn Faughey (FAW'-hee) in February 2008. But defense lawyers say Tarloff's schizophrenia made him so psychotic that he couldn't tell what he was doing was wrong.
Prosecutors say Tarloff carried out a deliberate plan and understood it was illegal.
Tarloff told authorities he set out to rob Faughey's officemate and encountered her instead.
