Guilty verdict in pizza holdup

An Allen Superior Court jury took just a few minutes to convict a 19-year-old Fort Wayne man of robbing a pizza deliveryman in December.

Junius Brooks, of the 1300 block of Greene Street, was arrested and charged with robbery. Rhodney A. Lewis, 18, of the 1100 block of Greene Street, was also charged.

The two are accused of robbing two delivery drivers who were dropping off orders of pizza and wings in the 2100 block of Eden Street on Christmas Eve.

Lewis intercepted the delivery, claiming the order was for him and then grabbed a shotgun. He pointed it at the drivers and demanded they hand over food and cash, according to court documents.

The delivery drivers called police, who tracked the men by muddy footprints from the scene to the door of an apartment and arrested the pair, according to court documents.

On Tuesday, the jury convicted Brooks of robbery. He will be sentenced early next month, according to court records.

Lewis pleaded guilty to the charge earlier this month and also will be sentenced next month, according to court records.
