•A story on Page 1A Monday misstated average 2011 salaries for Northwest Allen County Schools administrators and teachers, according to the district. The story used Indiana Department of Education figures. Superintendent Chris Himsel said he challenged those numbers when the DOE initially released them, but the DOE made no corrections.

The current DOE administration did not calculate the averages, and a department spokesman could not say how the numbers were calculated or why they could be incorrect.

NACS reports its average administrator earned about $89,600 in 2011, and the average teacher earned about $47,400.

•A story on Page 5C Sunday should have said H.O.P.E. for Animals, a low-cost spay-neuter clinic, would spay or neuter only pit bull-type dogs in the 46806 ZIP code for $5.

•A Washington Post article on Page 1A Tuesday about five key moments in the career of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was incomplete.

The article noted a report in the Guardian newspaper in 2011 that Thatcher would not be meeting with Sarah Palin during Palin’s trip to London. “That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts,” the paper quoted one Thatcher ally as saying.

However, foreign affairs analyst Nile Gardner wrote at the time that Thatcher’s office said it was not the source of the reported remark.

“As a former aide to Margaret Thatcher myself, I can attest that … such remarks would never be made by her office,” he added.
