News and notes
- Weickel will hope for better in his second start of the season after recording a no-decision in his first action in a TinCaps uniform. The 19-year-old is another young, intriguing prospect in the Padres organization, although he didn't have the kind of start he would have hoped for. In his first game of the season, Weickel went 3 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits.
- Darrah, who has recorded three starts for the Silver Hawks, has looked like an ace in the early part of the year. Through 13 innings, he has yet to allow a run, and that could bode ill for a TinCaps team that struggled at the plate yesterday. Fort Wayne went 2-for-27 in the loss yesterday.
- South Bend is on a six-game winning streak entering today, while Fort Wayne has lost four straight on the road. The TinCaps will hope to avoid their second straight-up losing streak of the year and put an end to the first-place team's run.
