Chemical irritates some at Fort Wayne VA campus

FORT WAYNE – A statement has been released to the media about renovations at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System.

Sheryl Grubb, public affairs officer, released the following statement:

“As part of a renovation project at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) Fort Wayne campus, some painting and flooring replacement have occurred over the past few months. The chemical used for floor preparation has been irritating to some employees. Air monitoring has been conducted both by VANIHCS and the contractor to ensure exposure is below OSHA permissible limits.

VANIHCS leadership has afforded staff that has been bothered a temporary work space relocation. We continue to make patient and staff safety a priority as we work through these construction projects. VANIHCS has had no reported patient safety concerns.”
