The big inning served the TinCaps well Friday night.
Sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring four runs off Lansing reliever Alonzo Gonzalez in the sixth inning, the TinCaps erased a one-run deficit and went on to a 7-3 victory over the Lugnuts in the first game of a three-game weekend set.
It bumped Fort Wayne's record at home to 5-1 on the young season, and pushed the TinCaps a game over the .500 mark at 7-6.
Fort Wayne raked four Lansing pitchers for a season-high 15 hits, on a night when the temperature dipped into the 30s and snow squalls periodically swirled around the lights.
Matthew Shepherd got the win in relief on the mound, taking the ball from starter Joe Ross, who gave up four hits and two earned runs -- his first runs of the season -- in 4 2/3 innings overall.
