Carroll scores boys golf win over DeKalb

Reid Worden and Joey Justice both posted 2-under 38s at Autumn Ridge and lifted the Carroll boys golf team to a 155-180 victory over DeKalb on Tuesday.

Garrett Leeper added a 39, and Mason Miller shot a 40 for the Chargers.

DeKalb was paced by Spencer Shoemaker’s 40 and Calvin George’s 44.

LEO 176, SOUTH ADAMS 180, GARRETT 184, ADAMS CENTRAL 218: In Leo-Cedarville, Garrett’s Karsten Cooper and South Adams’ Cal Clouser tied for medalist honors with 40s.

Leading the Lions to victory was Kent Kimura with a 41 at Cedar Creek.

BELLMONT 172, COLUMBIA CITY 177: In Columbia City, Chase Ellsworth led Bellmont with a 37 at Eagle Glen.

Columbia City’s Tyler Green carded a 42.

HOMESTEAD 163, NORWELL 206: Eric Myers posted a 37 at Orchard Ridge Country Club and Grant Jagger added a 41 for the Spartans.


BLUFFTON 5, SOUTHERN WELLS 2: In Bluffton, Jon Lowe had a home run and the Braves outhit the Raiders 9-3.


WOODLAN 15, ADAMS CENTRAL 1: In Monroe, Lauren Ehle allowed four hits and struck out six for the Warriors, and she was 2 for 2 with four runs at the plate.

The Warriors racked up 15 hits, including three apiece from Hannah Robbins and Haley Hostetler.

Hostetler had a home run, and teammate Logan Smead smacked two.

BLUFFTON 9, SOUTHERN WELLS 5: In Bluffton, Peyton Fugate was 2 for 4 with four RBI for Bluffton, and teammate Kaitlyn Lovell was 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Lovell struck out three and gave up four earned runs and 10 hits in seven innings.

Meghan Yencer was 2 for 4 with two RBI for the Raiders, and teammate Fiona Sackett was 2 for 4 with a run.


ANGOLA 4, LAKELAND 0: In Angola, Hornets No. 1 singles player Kirstin Quandt defeated Carlee Richardson 6-0, 6-0 at Trine University.

The closest match came at No. 3 singles, where Alyssa Rhoades defeated Audrey Stephens 7-6, 6-4.

BLUFFTON 59, ADAMS CENTRAL 51, WOODLAN 40: In Woodburn, Bluffton’s Jackson Lambert won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.2 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 46.4.
