News and notes

  • Left fielder Alberth Martinez looks to have bought in to the aggressive approach at the plate manager Jose Valentin has preached all season. Martinez has put together home runs in three consecutive games, including a decisive grand slam in a rubber game against Clinton and another in the opener against Burlington.
  • Crowley has been a bright spot for the sub-.500 Bees. He was the most recent Midwest League Pitcher of the Week, and the lefty could spell trouble for Fort Wayne. The TinCaps have struggled mightily with left-handed pitching in their last few outings against them, including a home loss to Clinton. Crowley has gone 19 innings this season, with 14 strikeouts and only two walks.
