Former Canterbury star to transfer to IU

Former Canterbury standout Tabitha Gerardot is moving to Indiana University to finish her college women’s basketball career, IU announced Thursday.

Gerardot will have one year of eligibility with the Hoosiers after spending the last three years at Valparaiso.

The 6-foot-1 Gerardot led the Crusaders in scoring the last two years, including 15.5 points and 9.2 rebounds last season.

“Tabitha will be an excellent addition to our program next year,” IU coach Curt Miller said in a statement. “She is a proven and productive collegiate power forward. She has a versatile skill set allowing her to play facing the basket but also the toughness to play inside. Tabitha will also bring leadership to our young roster that will include ten freshmen and sophomores. Tabitha has great character and will represent the Hoosier Nation on and off the court and we are pleased that she wanted to end her career in an IU uniform.”

Gerardot led Canterbury to three straight Class A state championships and was an Indiana All-Star.

IU also announced that Jennifer Anderson, a senior from Westfield, signed her letter of intent to play for the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-3 center averaged 18 points and 8.3 rebounds last season and is a member of the Indiana All-Star team.
