Rolling slowdowns set on I-69 for utility work

Traffic on Interstate 69 will be slowed to 10 mph in parts of Allen County on Sunday morning to enable utility-line work, the Indiana Department of Transportation said today.

The slowdowns will be from 6 to 10 a.m. from north of the Illinois Road exit to south of the southern junction with Interstate 469 by General Motors, the transportation department said in a statement.

Indiana Michigan Power will be removing old utility lines and hanging new ones near the 301-mile marker, south of the Yohne Road bridge, the statement said. It said Fort Wayne police and the Allen County sheriff's department will be assisting with the slowdowns, which are expected to last up to 20 minutes each.

Traffic entering I-69 may be stopped on entrance ramps in this area until traffic has cleared from each slowdown, the statement said. It said drivers may wish to select alternate routes or plan for possible traffic delays.
