More than 225 animals served at free clinic

Statement as issued Tuesday by HOPE for Animals in Fort Wayne:

On May 18, 2013 HOPE for Animals hosted a free vaccine clinic at Faith United Methodist Church. Over 200 dogs and 26 cats were able to receive free services or vouchers at this event. Two-hundred rabies and distemper/parvo vaccines were administered, 80 dogs were micro-chipped, 207 received heartworm tests and only 3 tested positive. All dogs that tested negative for heartworm went home with a one-month supply of heartworm preventative. In addition, 10 dogs went back to the HOPE clinic that day to be spay/neutered the following Monday. Eleven dogs were scheduled for later in the week.

The families of these pets truly appreciated all services received, and HOPE is glad to have been able to prevent illnesses and save the lives of many pets. Thank you to all staff, volunteers, donors, and individuals who made this event possible!
