Indiana recruit Theo Pinson, a top-15 player in the class of 2014, will make his college decision today.
North Carolina, Duke, Georgetown and Louisville are also involved with the 6-fooot-6 wing, who will announce his choice at 12:15 p.m.
In the past few days, separate sources have told The Journal Gazette that Pinson will likely choose the Hoosiers, while another source in North Carolina said the result today is not as clear.
A third source, who is close to the IU program, said the coaching staff is not sure what Pinson's choice will be. Pinson has kept his recruitment close to the vest in weeks leading up to his planned announcement.
At this point, our source in North Carolina said, it is between the Tar Heels and the Hoosiers. However, the edge goes to IU in that regard.
Pinson would join a recruiting class that includes shooting guard James Blackmon, Jr., who played at Bishop Luers and is a consensus four-star prospect.
Seems the tide might have turned toward UNC in the past 48 hours.
Jerry Meyer of 247Sports.com, a guy I know and trust from previous stops in my career, said on Twitter he is getting strong word that Pinson will choose the Tar Heels. This is a flip from his previous stance that IU was going to land Pinson.
The wing is a North Carolina native, so this is no surprise. In the past few days, chatter among recruitniks has gone from all-IU to a lot of UNC, and at this point it seems the Tar Heels are the safe bet.
