Opening days set for park pools, splash pads

FORT WAYNE – Relief is on the way. Splash pads and pools at Fort Wayne parks are opening soon.

The free splash pads will be turned on Saturday, with plans to keep them turned on until Labor Day, the city announced Wednesday.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Buckner Park, 6114 Bass Road; McCormick Park, Raymond and Holly avenues; Memorial Park, 2301 Maumee Ave.; Shoaff Park, 6401 St. Joe Road; Kreager Park (Taylor's Dream), 7225 North River Road; and Waynedale Memorial Park, 2900 Koons Ave.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Robert E. Meyers Park, inside the north gate at Parkview Field, on days without scheduled events.

The city parks department said one pool will open for Memorial Day weekend:

  • Northside Pool will be open Saturday through Monday, again June 1 and 2, and then daily starting June 8.
  • McMillen Pool will be open June 1 and 2, with daily hours starting June 8.
  • Memorial Pool will open for the season June 8.
