Police say man robbed drugstore, then shaved

– A Fort Wayne man robbed a Walgreens and right afterward shaved his beard in a Target bathroom in an apparent attempt to elude police, according to court documents.

Joshua Dixon, 21, entered the Walgreens at 6201 Stellhorn Road, near Maplecrest Road, shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, the court papers said.

He put a bottle of Mountain Dew on the counter as if he intended to buy it, and as the cashier was ringing up the sale, Dixon said, “I want all the money in the register,” according to court documents.

Dixon then grabbed something tucked in his pants, and the cashier saw what looked like the outline of a handgun handle under his shirt. The cashier provided the money, and Dixon left with $608 in a Walgreens bag and the Mountain Dew, court documents said.

He immediately changed clothes, went to a nearby Target, bought razors and shaved his beard in the store’s restroom, court documents stated.

Walgreens’ security cameras captured images of Dixon, and employees gave investigators a detailed description of him, down to the tattoo on his arm. Using police records, investigators found three possible suspects, and Walgreens employees picked Dixon from a photo lineup, court documents said.

Police found Dixon, of the 7400 block of Meriwood Drive, and he was booked into the Allen County Lockup on a robbery charge. He was being held without bail Tuesday on an unrelated misdemeanor count.
