Keith Busse, co-founder and chairman of Steel Dynamics, was awarded the American Red Crosss Humanitarian of the Year award for his contributions to the community. Also, Kayla Stezel of Bishop Dwenger High School was awarded the Northeast Indiana Youth Humanitarian of the Year award for her work with the Euell Wilson Center and Project Reads.
The Huntington University Joe Mertz Center was renamed the Friesen Center for Volunteer Service in honor of Dr. Norris Friesen. He is the director of institutional effectiveness and a professor of German at the university.
