News and notes

  • The TinCaps made a roster switch Tuesday, with starter/reliever Ruben Mejia placed on the disabled list and pitcher Joe Church entering the lineup in his place. Church came to Fort Wayne off extended spring training and was a 2012 MLB Draft 17th round selection by San Diego.
  • The TinCaps will hit the half-century mark with this game. After taking two of three games in Bowling Green, Fort Wayne enters its 50th game of the season 1 1/2 games out of the second-place slot in the Midwest League Eastern Division standings. A finish in the top two after the first half of the season would guarantee the TinCaps a playoff spot at the end of the regular season.
  • Fort Wayne is 3-0 against Lansing this season and looking to break a five-game losing streak at Parkview Field. The TinCaps got their first sweep of the year at home against the Lugnuts in an April 19-21 series.
