Fort Wayne leads 2-0 through 3

A home run by left fielder Alberth Martinez has Fort Wayne ahead of Lansing 2-0 after three innings.

Martinez, the second man in Wednesday's TinCaps lineup, took a first-pitch fastball over the left field wall in the bottom of the first inning. Lugnuts starter Daniel Norris faced seven batters in the first, and Lansing had a reliever warming up before the lefty worked his way out of the jam.

Fort Wayne starter Zach Eflin, meanwhile, has given up four hits but gotten help from his defense.

The Lugnuts stranded a man on third in the second, and Fort Wayne turned a double play with one out and runners on first and second to end the third.

In the bottom half, the TinCaps got another run on a grounder from Diego Goris with runners on the corners and no outs. Lansing turned the double play, but the runner on third scored to widen the gap.
