IPFW releases soccer schedule

The 2013 IPFW men's soccer schedule is out, and a whole lot of people are coming to the party.

The Mastodons, coming off back-to-back Summit League tournament berths, will play schools from the Atlantic-10, Missouri Valley, Conference USA and Big Ten in addition to a full Summit League slate that begins Sept. 28 with a road trip to Oral Roberts.

Prior to that, the Mastodons will open the season Aug. 30 in the Shindigz National Soccer Festival against Valparaiso, then play the likes of Dayton, Loyola (Ill.), Kentucky, Marshall and Wisconsin before opening league play.

Included in the Summit League schedule will be home games against league newcomers Denver and Eastern Illinois on Oct. 1 and Oct. 12. Senior Day will be Oct. 26, when the Mastodons play host to Western Illinois. They close the season with road games at Bowling Green on Nov. 5 and Omaha on Nov. 9.

Western Illinois plays host for the 2013 Summit League Tournament in Macomb, Ill, to be played on Nov. 15 to 17 for the top four teams in the league standings.

IPFW finished 4-15-1 last season and returns nine starters from a team that won four of its last six matches to advance to the Summit League tournament. Fourteen of the team's 17 goals return.
