TinCaps thrash Dayton 14-4

After a five-game losing streak in May, the TinCaps looked to be on the verge of letting the first half of the season slip away.

Sixteen games later, Fort Wayne is one win away from clinching a playoff spot.

The TinCaps put together the most dominant performance of an eight-game winning streak Monday with a 14-4 victory against Dayton at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne (39-23) set a season-best winning streak with the victory, and the TinCaps are 15-1 since a five-game losing streak from May 22-25.

Now, the TinCaps are just one win – or a Bowling Green loss – away from locking into a Midwest League wild-card playoff spot.

Fort Wayne scored in all but three innings Monday as a sparse crowd of 3,912 got its fair share of excitement.

Second baseman Diego Goris led the way with a 4-for-5 day at the plate and four runs against Dayton (26-37). Left fielder Corey Adamson chipped in a 3-for-6 line and three runs.
