Troopers seize kilo of cocaine in Williams traffic stop

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized a kilogram of cocaine valued at $84,000 on Tuesday following a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike.

Genaro Rodriguez, 41, of Cressey, Calif., was being held in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio on charges of possession and trafficking in cocaine and possession of criminal tools, the highway patrol said in a statement.

Troopers said they stopped a 1998 Honda Civic with Washington registration near milepost 8 about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on a following too closely violation.

Undisclosed criminal indicators were observed, the statement said, and a canine unit alerted to the vehicle. Police said a probable-cause search of the trunk found a large speaker with an electronic compartment containing the cocaine.
