News and notes

  • Fort Wayne gave up its largest run differential of the season in its Wednesday's loss to Lake County. It also gave up season-highs in home runs and runs in one inning. You can read more about the loss here.
  • The TinCaps have an interesting promotion today: Social Media Night, which features the jersey pictured above. Each follower of the TinCaps on Twitter has his or her (or its) name on the jersey. The promotion went viral, with nods from ESPN and other outlets. Fort Wayne is the first organization to run a social media uniform promotion like this one.
  • Weickel got his first professional win in his last start and will toe the mound for the final first-half home game. With the TinCaps 2 1/2 games behind Midwest League Eastern Division leader South Bend and just five games remaining on the schedule, it's unlikely they will be able to overtake first place in the division. But a win tonight wouldn't hurt Fort Wayne's chances.
