Purdue wrangles QB from Texas for 2014

– Creekview (Texas) High School quarterback David Blough has had Purdue atop his list of schools for some time now.

The senior-to-be made that official with a commitment Saturday.

Blough, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound signal caller, had an offer from Memphis and interest from Baylor, Oklahoma and several other in-state programs before giving the Boilermakers his pledge.

He becomes the third Purdue commit of the 2014 cycle.

Blough, a high three-star quarterback, is the No. 29 pro-style quarterback in the nation, according to 247Sports.com.

He was a first-team All-District selection in the 10-4A division during his junior year. He threw for 1,777 yards and 17 touchdowns, with just three interceptions, as a junior.

Blough also ran for six touchdowns.

The Texas quarterback joins First Baptist (Texas) Academy athlete Trae Hart and Arabia (Ga.) Mountain wide receiver Gregory Phillips in Purdue’s 2014 class.

Former Ohio commit Kirk Barron joined the Boilers on Friday, as well, after receiving an offer from the coaching staff.

All four pledges came in the last month and a half.
