Purdue adds walk-on guard

The Indianapolis Star reports Trace Cureton, a 2009 Cathedral grad and Sinclair Community College guard, will accept a walk-on invitation at Purdue.

The report indicates Cureton, a 6-foot-4 guard, had a scholarship offer from Miami (Ohio) but chose to stay closer to home and compete against Big Ten-level competition.

"It's the highest level and I'm just trying to get better," Cureton told the Star. "I know I can play at that level."

Since he played just one year of JUCO basketball, Cureton has three years of eligibility remaining. Fellow Cathedral grad Errick Peck, a graduate transfer from Cornell, also joined the Boilermakers this off-season.
