TinCaps lead 2-1 after 3 innings

A day after its longest game of the season, Fort Wayne seems to be awake early in its game against West Michigan.

The TinCaps have a 2-1 lead over the Whitecaps through three innings of play. Fort Wayne starter Adys Portillo gave up one run in the first inning after a leadoff walk. First baseman Lance Durham drove in the run on a base hit to right field.

The TinCaps struck back in the bottom of the frame. A double by left fielder Alberth Martinez started things off, and a single by second baseman Diego Goris brought Martinez in.

After catcher Dane Phillips drew a walk, first baseman Luis Tejada legged out a double-play ball that allowed Goris to score.

West Michigan starter Charlie Gillies gave up four walks to a disciplined-looking Fort Wayne squad in the first three innings. The TinCaps are showing much more patience at the plate thus far than in Monday's loss.
