TinCaps drop series against Lake County

Fort Wayne starter Joe Ross gave up 13 hits and six earned runs as the TinCaps lost to Lake County 6-3 on Monday at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.

The TinCaps (46-34) have yet to win a series in the second half of the season and are 3-8 since the All-Star break.

Six of those losses have come to teams with records below .500.

The Captains (30-49) were one of those teams.

Lake County took two of three from Fort Wayne, and the Captains claimed this one thanks to their hitting.

Lake County had 16 hits, led by a 3-for-5 day with two RBI for shortstop Dorssys Paulino. The Captains were 6 for 15 with runners in scoring position.

The TinCaps put together three runs in the top of the second inning to take an 3-0 lead, but Fort Wayne's bats went cold after that. Five of the team's nine hits came in that frame.

Left fielder Luis Domoromo and right fielder Corey Adamson each went 2 for 4 Monday, and Domoromo had one RBI. Luis DeJesus got the win, and Luis Morel the save, for Lake County.

The TinCaps travel to South Bend to play the Silver Hawks at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Note: Fort Wayne pitcher Ruben Mejia was promoted to Double-A San Antonio, the TinCaps announced Monday.
