An Auburn man died early today in a motorcycle crash on Indiana 327, the DeKalb County sheriff's department said.
Zachary A. Cloyd, 21, was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a tree, causing fatal head injuries, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
The statement said Cloyd was riding west in the 3500 block of Indiana 327 about 1:20 a.m. when he lost control and entered a ditch on the south side of the road.
Cloyd was not wearing a helmet, the statement said. It said speed appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The sheriff's department was assisted by Garrett police, Corunna firefighters and the county EMS, coroner's office and the sheriff's department chaplain.
