An Auburn man died early Thursday after he lost control of his motorcycle while riding on Indiana 327 in DeKalb County.
Zachary A. Cloyd, 21, was riding his 2008 Buell west in the 3500 block of Indiana 327 when he lost control and traveled off the south side of the road and into a ditch, the sheriff’s department said.
Cloyd was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a nearby tree, causing fatal head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, officers said. Police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
