Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast for region

There is a chance of thunderstorms and brief heavy rain in the region during the day on Tuesday, but the National Weather Service in northern Indiana says storms tonight are expected to produce “extremely heavy rainfall.”

The weather service said isolated severe storms are possible in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio overnight, producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

The chance for thunderstorms will linger into Wednesday, especially southeast of U.S. 24, the weather service said.
