Crash snarls traffic in area of I-69, Union Chapel

FORT WAYNE – Southbound Interstate 69 is shut down just south of the Union Chapel Road exit, according to a photojournalist in the area. Traffic on northbound I-69 was stop and go, as vehicles from the southbound lanes were allowed to get into the northbound ones.

The Indiana Department of Transportation website said all of the southbound lanes will likely remain closed for the next hour between Exit 316 at Indiana 1 and Dupont Road, and Exit 326 at DeKalb County Road 11-A.

INDOT said all incoming traffic is being diverted to Union Chapel Road. Traffic on the north side of Fort Wayne is jammed in the area.

A semi and a car carrier were among vehicles involved in the crash on southbound Interstate 69. A number of emergency vehicles were in the area.
