$5,000 reward offered in dog’s fireworks death

ELKHART, Ind. – The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fireworks incident that led to a dog’s death.

Elkhart County Humane Society Director Anne Reel told WSBT-TV (http://bit.ly/1b4goqr) that someone threw a lit firework at a female pit bull on July 5. The dog picked up the firework and it exploded in her mouth. Reel said the dog’s face was so badly damaged that the animal had to be euthanized.

The Elkhart Police Department is investigating the incident.

Humane Society Indiana state director Erin Huang said the group hopes the reward prompts someone to come forward with information about the case.
