Police: Senate Avenue shootings were likely not 'random act'

Statement as issued Friday by the Fort Wayne Police Department:

Date/Time of Incident: July 18, 2013

Location: 3215 Senate Avenue

Victim: Terry L. Lagrone, age 40, Fort Wayne

Victim: Desiree L. Sheets, age 19, Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, Ind - Detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department continue to investigate the deaths of two individuals who were discovered in a house fire at 3215 Senate Avenue on July 18, 2013 at approximately 8:50 a.m. At the scene of the fire, family members, friends, and neighbors gathered, and although all were very cooperative and forthcoming with information, detectives have not yet confirmed a motive for the double homicide, but they do believe that the occupants of the home were targeted and that this was not a random act. There is no suspect information at this time.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this investigation to contact Crime Stoppers at 260 436-STOP <7867>. The incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police and Fire Departments, the Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives Bureau (ATF), the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office. There is nothing further at this time.
