Kernels' bats come alive

The offense has come to Parkview Field, but it has mainly been with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, who lead 11-3 after the sixth inning Monday.

The Kernels have out hit the TinCaps 12-8.

The two teams combined for four runs in splitting the first two games of the series.

The Kernels' Adam Brett Walker continued his hot hitting with a two-run home run in the sixth to make it 10-3. The shot to center field went along with his two-run double in the first.

An RBI walk made it 11-3 later on in the sixth.

A solo home run by Luis Domoromo in the fourth cut into the deficit slightly as the TinCaps trailed 8-3.

Cedar Rapids increased its lead to 8-2 in the fourth on a RBI double by Mike Gonzales, his second run-scoring hit of the game.
