Baseball academy touts area benefit

Fort Wayne’s World Baseball Academy at the ASH Centre, 1701 Freeman St., is touting $1 million in economic benefit to the area, officials said.

The Hoosier Classics have been hosting 15 separate events over 10 weekends.

The contests began April 26 and wrap up Aug. 4. Players are ages 11 through 18.

Economic impact is based on projections from Visit Fort Wayne, the area’s tourism agency. It takes into account the number of visiting teams and money spent at hotels, restaurants and shopping.
