Old Dominion Freight Line on Thursday hosted an open house for its new, 71-door freight service center at 8550 Aviation Drive, near Fort Wayne International Airport.
The $7 million, state-of-the-art center allows the company to double its shipping capacity in the region.
The center provides service to Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
Thomasville, N.C.-based Old Dominion now employs 51 in Fort Wayne.
Company officials in November said they expected to create 40 additional jobs with the investment. At that time, they employed 40 locally.
According to an application for tax abatement, average wages for the new full-time jobs will be more than $63,000.
Old Dominion officials said the expansion will help the company keep up with growth in Fort Wayne’s magnet wire, retail, industrial, defense and automotive industries.
