Grocery holdup caught on tape

The Fort Wayne Police Department has released video of an armed robbery at a store on the city’s south side Wednesday.

A gunman entered Mon Asian Grocery, 3028 S. Calhoun St., at 4:25 p.m. and pointed a handgun at a clerk and customers as he demanded cash, police said.

In the video, a clerk is seen emptying the cash drawer into a plastic bag and handing it to the man while he waves a gun toward her and customers inside the store. The man then fled after getting the money.

No injuries were reported.

The robber was described as having a short-trimmed beard and slender build. He was black and was wearing a ball cap and light-colored shirt.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the robber is asked to call police at 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
