Another night, another blown lead as the TinCaps' inconsistent second-half ride continues.
This time Alberth Martinez' two-run homer in the third staked the TinCaps to a three-run lead, and nothing but silence followed. A two-run fifth and a three-run sixth for Lansing erased the lead and chased TinCaps starter Bryan Rodriguez, and three innings later the Lugnuts (48-62, 16-25 second half) were tucking a 5-3 victory in the ledger in front of 7,869 at Parkview Field.
Rodriguez took the loss for the TinCaps (57-52, 14-26), who managed just three hits across the last six innings and put just one baserunner aboard in the last three.
That was in the seventh, when Corey Adamson drew a one-out walk. He was immediately erased when Mallex Smith grounded into an inning-ending double play.
The two teams square off again today in a doubleheader at Parkview Field beginning 2:05 p.m.
