TinCaps 3, Lansing 2

OK, so that's better.

After being silenced by Lansing starter Daniel Norris in a 3-2 loss in the opener of Sunday's doubleheader, the TinCaps earned a 3-2 victory in the nightcap to earn a split.

The TinCaps jumped on Lansing starter Eric Brown for three runs in the first, and, unlike Saturday, when they let an early 3-0 lead slide off into a 5-3 loss, this time they hung onto it. Barely.

Gabriel Quintana, who had two of the TinCaps' five hits, drove in one run in the first with a single, and Luis Domoromo and Alberth Martinez added an RBI single and double.

But the TinCaps managed just two hits thereafter and went down in order in both the fifth and the sixth. Starter Walker Weickel gave up four hits across 4 2/3 innings to get the win, but Lansing put the first two batters aboard in the seventh and scored a run on Jason Leblebijian's sacrifice fly before closer Roman Madrid induced Dwight Smith Jr. to ground out to second to end it.

For Weickel, it was his first win since July 15, and his first trip to the hill since an 8-1 lead went south on him Tuesday in a 10-9 loss to Lake County.
