Eyeing IU

New Haven product enjoys IU visit

Spoke with Jordan Hogue and had some tape recorder malfunctions a bit ago. Here's a rundown of what he told me, via my not-so-great shorthand.

Hogue, a wide receiver/defensive back out of New Haven, took an unofficial visit to Indiana this weekend. He got to sit in on position meetings with coaches from both of those positions and see how Kevin Johns, the receivers coach, and Brandon Shelby, the cornerbacks coach, go about their business.

Hogue is being recruited as an athlete by the Hoosiers, and he said the staff likes him for both spots. That gives him a better chance at a scholarship should the staff decide they have a need at either position.

The 6-foot-1 prospect is one of the more underrecruited kids in the area, according to AWP president Michael Ledo. Ledo said in May that Hogue is one of the best receivers he's seen in the state in some time, which is a pretty strong statement.

The IU staff is waiting until it can see a couple games worth of senior tape before deciding whether it will offer Hogue, who is also receiving interest from Michigan State. At first glance, the Hoosiers seem pretty interested.
