    Patience paid off the Komets on Thursday night as they defeated Reading 5-1 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals at at Memorial Coliseum.The Komets lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. Game 3 is Friday at the Coliseum.
  • K's leading after 2
    After two periods at Memorial Coliseum, the Komets lead the Reading Royals 2-1 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The series is tied at 1.
  • Good start for K's
    It certainly wasn't the most exciting period I've ever seen, but it was a successful one for the Komets. They got the only goal at Memorial Coliseum and outshot the Reading Royals 14-12.

Vaskivuo returns to K's; Maggio rights complete San Francisco deal

Forward Mike Vaskivuo has agreed to terms for the 2013-14 season, and the rights to defenseman Daniel Maggio have been traded to San Francisco to complete the Simon Danis-Pepin deal, the Komets announced today.

In addition, forward Jake Hauswirth has agreed to terms and will be on the preseason roster, the club said in a statement.

Vaskivuo, 27, of Helsinki, Finland, played in Grenoble, France, last season, after finishing 2011-12 with Fort Wayne in the CHL, the team said. He had 10 goals and 14 assists during the playoffs, when he was named the league's playoff MVP.

Hauswirth, 25, of Houghton, Wis., split last year with Arizona in the CHL and Ontario in the ECHL, the Komets said.

They said the Maggio deal completes the July 26 trade for Danis-Pepin. Maggio had five goals and 13 assists for Fort Wayne in 43 games last year.

The Komets said they have 20 players on their preseason roster, including 13 forwards and seven defensemen.
