Victim of weekend SUV crash identified

The victim of an SUV crash in southeast Fort Wayne on Saturday night has been identified, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Henry Meyers, 54, of Fort Wayne died in the crash on Hayden Street at McCulloch Street about 7:15 p.m., the coroner's office said in a statement.

Meyers died from blunt force trauma, the statement said. His death was ruled an accident.

Fort Wayne police had said the SUV was headed west on Hayden, approaching McCulloch, when the driver sideswiped a box truck and crashed into a tree. The coroner's office, however, described the crash as involving only one vehicle.

His death is the 21st traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2013.
