Fried stays steady, TinCaps build lead

Max Fried worked out of a jam in the sixth, and the TinCaps posted two runs in the fifth to build a 2-0 lead with three innings to go.

Fort Wayne used a walk, base hit and error to load the bases in the fifth, and an infield single by catcher Rodney Daal brought in the first run. Center fielder Mallex Smith followed that up with a single to score another off Lansing starter Kendall Graveman, who went five innings with four hits to his credit.

Fried is in line for the win after six scoreless innings. The left-hander spaced out five hits over his outing, walked two batters and struck out one.

A win today would give the TinCaps their first three-game winning streak of the second half.
