The TinCaps' Walker Weickel (3-6) got the loss in the team's fourth straight setback 7-6 Saturday against the Dayton Dragons at Parkview Field, and his recent struggles continue.
He gave up 11 hits and seven earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked the first batter of the game.
Weickel has not won since July 15. In his last four starts, Weickel hasn't lasted longer than 4 2/3 innings and has given up 23 runs.
The Dragons did it in spurts with two runs in the first and five in the fifth.
Weickel's ERA went up to 5.74, and he is 1-3 in his last eight starts with an ERA around 9.00.
Fort Wayne relievers Colin Rea, Trevor Gott and Joe Church combined to blank the Dragons over the final 4 1/3 innings.
Dayton relief pitcher Jackson Stephens (2-5) saved the Dragons by going 6 2/3 innings and giving up only five hits, one earned run and striking out five.
Dayton starter Amir Garrett got a no-decision after surrendering five hits and four earned runs in 1 2/3 innings.
Alejandro Chacin got the save after going 2 /3 of an inning and giving up a run.
