This is why we refer to this type of scam as “ransom ware” because essentially your computer is being held for ransom in exchange for monetary payment. The pop-up warning will tell you the amount of the payment and instructions on how to make this payment.
If your computer is being held hostage for “violation” of any nature, take it to a reputable computer specialist for examination. Call BBB at 260.423.4433 or visit www.bbb.org, if in doubt about this type of online threat. Don’t open any links and don’t fall for “ransom alerts.”
