  • Spencer stars but IPFW volleyball loses
    Emily Spencer moved into second place on the all-time IPFW women’s volleyball kill list as the Mastodons dropped a non-league match to Western Michigan, 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-9) on Tuesday.
  • IPFW women's golfers tie for 7th
    At its final event of the fall season, the IPFW women's golf team tied for seventh with a two-day score of 642 at the Dayton Fall Invitational in Kettering, Ohio. The Mastodons moved up one spot from day one to finish tied with SIUE.
  • IPFW men's golfers finish 15th
    The IPFW men’s golf team wrapped of its fall season with a 15th place finish at the Dayton Fall Invitational in Kettering, Ohio, with a two-day score of 628.

Men's soccer picked fifth

The Summit League preseason men's soccer poll is out, and the IPFW Mastodons are tabbed to finish fifth.

The Mastodons picked up 15 total points, just behind Omaha's 23. Denver, the Summit League newcomer, was picked to finish first with 35 points and five first-place votes. Western Illinois, the host of the 2013 Summit League Men's Soccer Tournament, was picked to finish second with 31 points (two first place votes). IUPUI (24), and Omaha (23) finished just ahead of IPFW, while Eastern Illinois (12), and Oral Roberts (7) round out the seven teams in the league.

IPFW returns six starters and 16 letterwinners from a team that went 4-15-1, ending the year 4-3, closing strong to earn a second consecutive spot in the Summit League Tournament. Corey Tom returns after leading the team with four goals scored, while Jose Rodriguez scored three times while dishing out an assist.

The Mastodons open the regular season on August 30 with a home match against Northern Kentucky, while the Summit League season kicks off on September 28 in Tulsa, Okla. against Oral Roberts.
