Stutzman, tea party meetings coincide

Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, announced on his Facebook page this week that he will have a town-hall meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Fort Wayne.

But the tea party group Fort Wayne 9-12 says on its website that Stutzman will appear at its meeting, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m.

A scheduling conflict, perhaps? Apparently not – both Stutzman’s town-hall meeting and the Fort Wayne 9-12 session featuring him will be at Classic Café, 4832 Hillegas Road.

Fort Wayne 9-12 says on its website that “All are welcome!” to its meetings.

Stutzman’s Facebook announcement is posted over a photograph of him appearing outside the Capitol with Republican Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Mike Lee of Texas and Ted Cruz of Texas and the caption -- the Team to #DefundObamaCare.

The four lawmakers came together Aug..1 for a tea party rally calling for Congress to strip federal funding from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Journal Gazette published the photo as part of Sunday’s Perspective story on Stutzman’s legislative agenda this year.

Comments posted on Stutzman’s Facebook page about the photo range from wholehearted support (“The most honorable men in Washington,” one person wrote) to derision (“Dumb, dumber, dumbest and Most Dumbest?” another person wrote).
