Knights edge Spartans

Cooper Handshoe shot a 5-over 41 at Cobblestone Golf Course in Kendallville and led the East Noble girls golf team to a one-stroke victory over Homestead on Tuesday.

Logan Handshoe added a 42 for the Knights, who totaled a 174. Alyn Clark posted a 45 and Kacey VanWagner had a 46.

Homestead was paced by Annie Butchko’s 41, while Alyssa Hoffman had a 42, Courtney DelaCuesta had a 44 and Kyra Hoffman had a 48.

BELLMONT 173: COLUMBIA CITY 179: Macy Phegley’s 39 at Cross Creek in Decatur led Bellmont, while teammate Rachel Klingensmith added a 44. Columbia City’s Mackenzie Lane had a 40 and Allison Yoder carded a 44.

SOUTH ADAMS 186, BISHOP LUERS 227: Sydney Willis led the Starfires with a 2-over 38 at Limberlost in Rome City. Kelli Lehman added a 44.

Boys soccer

LAKEWOOD PARK CHRISTIAN 2, SOUTH SIDE 1: At South Side, Lakewood Park trailed but got second-half goals from Bradey Gerke and Evan Witmer.

COLUMBIA CITY 3, CENTRAL NOBLE 2: In Albion, Drake Dewitt scored all three goals for the Eagles. For Central Noble, Alex Cole and Eric Reidenbach scored.

Girls soccer

NORWELL 1, SOUTH ADAMS 0: In Ossian, Alex Haddix had the lone goal for the Knights.

ANGOLA 7, WAYNE 4: In Angola, Nicole Silverhart and Savannah Burkhardt both scored three goals, while Riley Peppler also found the net for the Hornets.


NORTHROP 5, WHITKO 0: In South Whitley, Alex Stavretis won at No. 1 singles, 7-6 (2), 6-1 against Tyler Baugher.

The Bruins lost only nine other games and got a default win at No. 2 doubles.

DEKALB 5, LAKELAND 0: In Waterloo, the closest match came at No. 1 doubles, where Parker Schilling and Will Edmonds defeated Ian Sonner and Sam Miller 6-4, 7-5.
