Producer and songwriter Wayne Haun and performers Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman lead the Dove Awards nominations for gospel and Christian music excellence.
Haun is up for 15 awards and Tomlin and Redman are up for nine each after nominations were announced Wednesday morning at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. Ben Glover, The Isaacs and The Gaither Vocal Band have eight nominations each.
Tomlin is nominated for top honor artist of the year with Francesca Battistelli, Lecrae, Tamela Mann and TobyMac. Haun, Glover and Redman are up for songwriter of the year with Benji Cowart and Toby McKeehan.
The Gospel Music Associations 44th annual award show will be Oct. 15.
Franco, Ovation team up for show
James Franco is coming back to TV, but this time, its not for a soap opera or the Academy Awards.
The Ovation channel said Wednesday that its joining with the actor-writer-filmmaker on a new series, James Franco Presents.
Ovation said the series will document Francos explorations of the art world, including his gallery exhibits and other passion projects. The prime-time series also will include Francos heroes in various areas of the arts, the channel said.
The film actor has dabbled in TV since his breakout role in the series Freaks and Geeks in 1999, with appearances on General Hospital and hosting the 2011 Oscars with Anne Hathaway.
James Franco Presents will debut this fall on Ovation.
Drake joins lineup of VMA performers
Drake is the latest A-list musician set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The rapper joins a hefty list of performers, including Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Kanye West.
MTV also announced Wednesday that Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kevin Hart will attend the awards show, to air live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead in nominations with six each. Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke – who will also perform – are tied with Bruno Mars with four nominations each.
Jared Leto, Emeli Sande and A$AP Rocky will also appear.
