Hit-skip crash leaves Cromwell man in critical condition

– A hit-skip crash in Kosciusko County left a Cromwell man in critical condition and another man seriously hurt.

The crash occurred about 6 p.m. Friday.

Authorities said a pickup truck driven by Javier Lopez, 45, of Cromwell, was traveling south on County Road 1000 E when another vehicle suddenly pulled into his path.

Lopez swerved, causing his truck to leave the roadway, roll over and strike a utility pole, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

His passenger, Miguel Sanchez, 30, Syracuse, suffered leg injuries and was listed in serious condition.

According to witnesses, the other vehicle did not stop and left the scene shortly after the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
